Himachal Pradesh situated under the great high mountains of Himalayas. Himachal Pradesh became a part of India Uinion as a state on April 15, 1948 by joining 31 big and small hill states of the region. And in 1956 it was converted into Union Territory and when some more hilly area of state Pujab were added to this union territory Himachal Pradesh converted into full- fledged state. Today Himachal Pradesh is one of the best place for tourism not only for the Indian tourists but also for whole world.
Rivers in Himachal Pradesh are Chenab, the Ravi, the Sutlej, the Beas and River Yamuna.
Location of Himachal Pradesh extends from the latitudes 30°22’40” North to 33°12’40” North and Longitude 75°45' 55" East to 79°04' 20" East. Himachal Pradesh has hilly area with altitude varies from 350 meters to 7000 meters above the sea level and it increases from south to north and east to west. According to geography of Himachal Pradesh, its area can be devided into three different regions, greater Himalayas or the alpine zone, the Shivalik Himalayas or outer Himalayas and Inner Himalayas or middle Himalayas.
Himachal Pradesh is one the best attraction place for the tourist due to its greenery and high mountains. Whenever the word "Tourism" comes the first thing in mind comes Himachal Pradesh. Agriculture is the main source for the people of Himachal Pradesh. Large percentage of people get their income from sheep, goats and other cattle. The quantity of people who live in village is larger then who live in cities ie 90% people stay in village and other in cities.
The people of Himachal Pradesh used to have terraced fields and small two storey houses having slopping roof in order to protect their houses from heavy snowfall and rain. Village contains few shops in order to full fill villager’s daily requirement.Most villages have a temple where villagers used to pray in morning and evening time. The main difficulties for the villager of Himachal Pradesh is that they have to travel long on their foot when they need their job to be finished. And this same issue is also for the small children when they go to the school. Due to Hilly area and the location of village far away from the main road people of Himachal Pradesh generally face this difficulties.
The people of Himachal Pradesh wear colorful dresses according to their local climate suitability. They wear long trouser and long gowns but without having mandarin sleeves. They wear boots made of grass and leather. They wear caps which consist of colorful palette and color indicate the region they belong.
