Tourism in Kasauli, Himachal, India

Kasauli was built in 19th century by Britishers and is a beautiful hill station located just 7 kms from Shimla. The Central Research Institute In Kasauli is the oldest institute in India, taking care of Police and Army doges and was set up in 1900. The city has its own charm and beauty.

It is believed that in 17th century some Rajput refugees from Harayana in the lower Himalays and got settled at a village known as Kasauli from where the name Kasauli originated.

In Kasauli, the upper and lower malls provide an excellent long walks passing through the mixed forest of pine, huge horse-chestnut trees and oks that encircles the entire Kasauli Town.In month of April-June and September-November travel department of Himachal Pradesh organizes tour to Kasauli.

Places to Visit in Kasauli

  • Monkey Point drives its name from Rish Mank-Ki who used to worship of Shr. Hanuman ji and later built a small temple temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman and now under the care of personnerl of Air Force. This area is restricted due to some security point of vies. Visitor can bring camera and bags like items with them. It is 3 ½ km from Hotel Ros Comman.
  • Church is located on the Upper Mall Road.
  • Central Research Institute was set up by Dr. Sample in 1906. It prepares vaccines for disease like cholera, smallpox, and snake bite and this is only one of its kind in Asia.
  • Baba Balak Nath Temple It is 3 km away. Sidh Baba Balak Nath ji is another main attraction and is famous temple on the Graner Hill. It is believed that Baba Balak Nath ji one night, in the dreams of local resident named Vijay Kumar appeared and told to built a temple at a place, where present temple is established. The number of visitor with their child come here and blessed, whose baptism ceremony is also performed in the same temple.
  • Shirdi Sai Baba Mandir was built in 1989 by Sai Baba Trust. It is famous temple located at half km away from Garkhal. The idol of Temple was built at Jaipur and the burning flame in this Temple Signifies the divine power of Sai Babaji of Shirdi.

Kasauli offers number of hotels and resort for the visitors but as Kasauli is ruled by the army does not allows the new construction. There are few hotels available in Kasauli so it will be better to pre-book a room in hotel and only then visit Kasauli.

  • By AirShimla (73 km) and Chandigarh (65 km) are the nearest airport from Kasauli and major domestic airlines providing air services to tourists between Delhi and Chandigarh.
  • By Rail – Train route with narrow gauge railway line is best way to reach Kasauli as this route passes through lush green forest and huge mountains ranges. The nearest rail head is Kalka which is 40 km from Kasauli and 44 km from Solan.
  • By Road – Solan and Kasauli are well connected by road buses, coaches and taxis are also easily available from Chandigarh and Delhi.
